Conversations with the Ocean

Evelyn Elgie

This book confronts themes of mental illness, depression, anxiety, suicide, self-harm, self-hatred, drowning, and suicidal ideation, as well as body dysphoria, chronic illness, body issues, and dissociation.

In writing this work, I was in a place where speaking and writing about my depression was healing, but I recognize that different people will have different responses to seeing these ideas, thoughts, and sensations in print. If you have been through similar experiences, you may find this work troubling and/or triggering. Engaging with difficult knowledge is important, but in my opinion it is best done safely and lovingly, and from an outlook of self-care rather than self-harm. In reading this work, please make it your priority to take care of yourself.
